I have an old 2013 MacBook Pro, I want to wipe it and sell but I cannot enter my password as the number 2 key appears to have spontaneously broken. Is there another way to type the number 2 without going into settings? I can't get past login page and weirdly the track pad won't let me click on utilities if I start up and hold down command R. So I'm hoping there's some way of using number lock or something and being able to type the 2 that's in my password! Any ideas? Don't want to have to buy a mouse just to access utilities, can I even regain access that way without my password working?

Thanks

Try connecting a USB keyboard.
Yeah, it's going to come to that. Trying to avoid getting a keyboard or mouse just for this but not seeing any alternative right now. Thought there might be a numlock trick I was missing.....

Try a thrift store, such as Goodwill, and see if they have a used keyboard and/or mouse.

A computer repair shop might let you borrow a USB keyboard for a few minutes, if you use it right there.

If only, I live on a very remote island, don't even have a supermarket. Last time MacBook had issues I had to decide if I wanted to send it to the mainland and go without for about a month. I'll just have to order online, takes about a week but better than nothing.
