just select your imac, and whether the desk has a back board to it like this one:

, or like this one:

we might come up with something due to overheating.:D

I don't know how much help this poll will be.But fwiw, I own a non freezer with the back faced towards a window.

I think this poll speaks volumes about how desperate some of us are to find answers. Come on apple!!

Mine has been at the apple store 4 days now waiting for a new logic board and graphics card. :(

Lol, this thread is so pointless.

No!! Just look at the numbers so far!

We can almost prove, without a doubt, that 24" iMacs on desks without backs are freezers. Therefore, all 24" iMacs should be kept in as tight a space as possible. Airflow is bad for them... these machines need excessive heat to function! ;)

ROFL!!! lets heat up our imacs!!

It does seem to be getting a bit silly at this point and one starts wondering if this one isn't just a juvenile jab back at whoever called him out on his last poll yesterday. He DID promise to keep posting polls in response.

LOL! Wow, I hope someone is getting this data to Apple.

Looks like I have to change my vote. My 24 inch without enclosed desk is probably a freezer now.

I'm curious, is the next Poll going to be:

XX" iMac Metal Desk/Wooden Desk
XX" iMac Walmart Desk/Staples/IKEA
XX" iMac Alaska (freezing)
XX" iMac Jamaica (NOT FREEZING)

lol, i actuall am going to do that, u read my mind

from what i can extrapolate, 20 inch imacs in enclosed desks freeze, and 24 inch imacs on a normal, open desk freeze, time to narrow down to material, then OS. then software

Enclosed or open my 24" will freeze regardless. Right now for the past few days it's been good to me. So right now, I can say, Open Desk no Freeze, but tomorrow I might say Open Desk Freeze.

I hardly think desk type is accurate. I can reboot my system and get 20 freezes in an open desk environment. Take it to my office in a close desk environment reboot again and not get a single freeze for a week straight.

are the materials the same? like their both wood, or steel, or different materials

are the materials the same? like their both wood, or steel, or different materials

Steel desks freezes in my office at work
No Steel desks (wood desks) freezes at home
Fiberglass top, Hand Carved Mahogany table (open back) Dining room table freezes
Sitting on a wooden end table freezes
Sitting on a wooden coffee table in my living room freezes
Sitting on my steel workbench in my garage (open back) freezes
.... ice cube on nipple DEFINITELY FREEZES (lol sorry had to add that one)

It doesn't matter, it freezes when it wants to freeze. Ambient materials not connected to the back of the iMac or ambient materials it's sitting on aren't making a difference.

As stated earlier, it hasn't been freezing for the past week so as long as I don't reboot I'm good. I know for sure when I reboot and start up sure as my kids are annoying as all get out, it'll freeze.

I just need to have time to take it to get logic/graphics card replaced.
