Answering calls while iphone is connected to aux port of car

Hello! First post in the forum, and new iphone user. Love it so far.

My question is this. While I drive I like to listen to music on my iphone through my cars Aux input. When a call comes in I hear my phone ring and I hit the answer key, but the person's voice doesn't come through my cars speakers like the music/ringer was. However, the mic is still picking up my voice and the person on the other end can hear me.

So when I have the aux jack hooked into my iphone, and it's playing music when a call comes in I have to take out the aux cable and then talk, or I have to answer the phone and then talk on speaker phone. It's a pain taking out the aux cable while driving...so speakerphone is the easier solution.

It'd be nice if I could hear the persons voice through my speakers and the iphone's mic could pick up mine so I could drive handsfree. Is that possible? A setting maybe? Does anyone else do this and have issues?

You have the headphone volume turned all the way down, turn it up and you will hear the person over the car speakers, this works in my WRX STI.

How exactly do you toggle the 'headphone volume'? Is it the same button as the regular external speakers just need to have something connected in the input jack of the iPhone?

Edit: Ok, just answered my own question - simply turn the volume up on your iphone when connected to the aux input.

I feel silly now because I returned a hands free device because it would supposedly not work.

I discovered this the other day when i answered the phone. I had it up to my ear and realized that the other person was coming in through my car speakers!! I was pretty happy with that. Makes for easy handsfree driving.

I don't have this issue because my

2007 BMW //M5 with 21,592 miles, full leather, HUD, SMG, active seats, has bluetooth and I get my calls through there.

My 2003 911 Turbo is another story though because it's older technology.

Okay, here's a twist on the OP's question:

I drive a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta (Wolfsburg Edition if we're gonna be like that) and in the car my iPhone is charged by a Griffin Jolt or whatever it's called and I have an aux cable that plugs into the headphone jack for music. I also have the Jawbone 2. If I'm listening to music and have the bluetooth activated and I receive a call, does it a.) put the audio on the cars speakers and use the built-in iPhone mic b.) put the audio in the bluetooth and use the bluetooth device's mic or c.) put the audio on the car's speakers and use the bluetooth device's mic?

All three are theoretically possible, I'm just curious as to what it's supposed to do by default.

I have a DLO fm transmitter/charger and it broadcasts music and the ringtone when someone calls on my iPhone 3G, but it won't broadcast the conversation. Has anyone gotten around this over an fm transmitter through the 30 pin?
