if you are a hard core gamer i would not recomend it for a macbook beacause it does not have a graphocs card.. just intergrated graphics.. might i sujest the macbook pro for some good gaming?

plus intergrated graphics cant run many games such a half life 2 , doom and other games with good graphics because the macbook cant handle it. hope i answered your question well.

How's the glossy screen?

What are the specs of your macbook (assuming you have one, HD, RAM, color, etc)

Do you have any peripherals hooked up to it (and what are they)?

How much battery can you squeeze out of it in normal usage (not 100% brightness, BT off, etc)?

Do you use the BT for wireless mice/anything?

if you do use it for a mouse, what would you recommend?

Do you think the screen is too small/cramped in anyway?

How portable do you think it is?

Ok, that should hold you for awhile ;)

Don't wait to get the RAM if possible. With 2GB, it will make your MB with 512MB look like a dog.

You should ask steve jobs..i bet he has wonderful answeres

what is the meaning of life?- To scam people by making them pay more for black macbooks.

Does god truely exist?- Inside my imac i think.

Where do people go when they die?- To the big Operating system in the sky......

i think that is what he would say:p

I,personaly, love the glossy screen, it just makes your resoultion seem 100x better.

I have a 2GHz black macbook with a 80GB HD, and 512MB RAM (im saving yo for some more RAM)

I do not use any peripherals with it yet. mainly because my school is over and i dont need to print things.

Battery life is very good.. i can squeeze with the stats you gave me around 4hours and 30min. with no airport and just doing word or itunes..and when doing thing with airport and garrage band i would say about 3hours or 3hours and 30 min.

Im sorry i do not use blue tooth mice. i must say that the trackpad is very roomy and you would not really need an external mouse.

I feel that 13" is the best screen size, not to big not to small. but the fact that it is wide screen makes the screen seem quite large. but not too large.

This is very portible..the size when closed is perfect. the weight is just right
and i just have to say its the best latop that apple can offer...and get the BLACK it is wonderful. and the oild just wipes right off. find someone that is a teacher or collage student who does not like macs and use there education discount.

Hope i helped you in any way:D

I think he meant it would be dog slow... as in almost impossible to use for anything other then the included iLife software. I had mine for about week before the ram I ordered arrived... and it feels about 4 times faster now. With only 512 anything under rosetta was obscenely slow. Now, its reasonable, and universal apps really fly.

Order that ram sooner rather then later... you won't regret it.

I inactivated just downloaded updates

What do I do to reactivate software updates. I was thrilled to see them (15) being downloaded, then I saw the word...."inactive"!!! I accidently pushed the button, but there seemed to be no instruction for undoing it. Thanks

I have a small question. I just bought a MacBook yesterday, and I'm very pleased overall with it. Even with only 512 MB of RAM, it works great.

The only question I had is related to the Superdrive. When inserting and ejecting CDs and DVDs, the superdrive makes a mechanical ejecting noise that is fairly loud.

As this is my first Mac, and I have no experience with the superdrive ejection mechanism to see if this is normal, I just wanted to ask here.

Isn't the superdrive supposed to be fairly silent when inserting and ejecting media, or is this possibly a symptom of some sort of problem?

Once they are inside the machine, CDs and DVDs appear to be working just fine with no noise.

This is unfortunately a characteristic of slot-loading drives. They make loud whirring and clicking noises when loading and ejecting discs. :)

My MB's superdrive does the same. In addition, my bro's iBooks combodrive doesn't make a sound that loud, but my superdrive is however more silent than my old windows tray-loading drive.:p

It is supposed to make this sound.. just because its a slot-loading superdrive.

I posted this elsewhere but then remembered you were answering questions :)

I'm off to college this fall and I'm dying to pick up one of these but i'm holding out for mainly two reasons:

-Possible updates between now and late july
-Possible sale between now and late july

Is the back to school ipod sale the only thing I shold be expecting as to savings? Do you think that the money saved from cheaper Core Duo's will be passed on in july? Is there any liklihood of a speed bump between now and late july?

The nice thing about trayloading drives is that you can use them for drink stands/cup holders.;)

Though I wouldn't recommend it.

I would not expect either of this things to occur. I think we may see MacBook Pro's updated btwn now and then (more likely AFTER July tho). Apple put a lot into the MacBook and I would not expect to see an update or a sale in a month. Even when CoreDuo chip prices drop, it's likely that Apple's will not.

Make sure you investigate Educational Pricing, if you're off to college, that should help make it cheaper plus you can get a Mail In Rebate toward an iPod.

I say go for it now. Don't wait.

Great. I didn't think I'd like it but I really really do.

Black, 2.0GHz, 80GB HD, SuperDrive, 1GB RAM

JurgenWigg said:

I've used my iMic with it, a mouse, my HP v1315 printer/scanner

JurgenWigg said:

Everything off...screen at dimmest... not running anythign 4.5 hrs
Normal use...screen 75% bright, itunes, ichat safari... 4hrs

JurgenWigg said:

I used my BT keyboard on it. And I sync and browse my Moto RAZR with the BT

JurgenWigg said:

Any one you want. I use my Mighty Mouse at home but on the road I use an IBM Micro Optical mouse. Works great especially in Windows via BootCamp.

JurgenWigg said:

No, and I had a 15.4" MacBook Pro before this. The resolution of 1280x800 is fantastic. It works great. Especially with Dreamweaver/Photoshop. The widescreen aspect makes it so much more useful.

JurgenWigg said:

Completely, it's light, and not that big. It's a touch bigger than the iBook but the widescreen makes it easier to handle I think.

Have you tried to play any games on the MacBook?

It works quite well, as MacRumorUser, myself, and others have mentioned in the following threads:

Gaming on a macbook. It Works For Me
WoW on my stock MacBook: It runs fantastically!
World of Warcraft on my MacBook Part 2: 2GB RAM & 7200RPM HDD
