So the big deal for me each year is the signal on iPhones tend to be weak compared to the competition so I just wanted to ask anybody who has bought an iPhone 12 Pro if the signal is better, worse or the same as the iPhone 11 Pro? NOT to be confused with 5G I’m not interested in 5G at all it’s more for calls, texts and general surfing the internet which 4G handles perfectly well......if I’m in a really good area for signal 🙄

Very early impressions for me, but it looks a bit weaker than my 6S Pro. I park in a spot underground where I sometimes lose signal just as I park. Today, I noticed I lost it a bit before. Also coming back outside, my phone did not properly re-acquire the signal. My car showed just 1 bar and I had no network For the whole trip. Not scientific testing, just what I’ve come across so far.

All on LTE. my carrier does not offer 5G

They fully ditched Intel this year and switched to QC so should be on par with other phones. I had no issues on previous iPhones with reception so can’t tell you my personal experience.

I sometimes wonder if the steel edge interferes with signal or would that be nonsense? Reason I think that is I had the iPhone 11 Pro Max and sent it back within 14 days as the signal was extremely poor, bought an iPhone 11 and put the same sim in that phone and signal was perfectly ok so it makes me wonder if steel vs aluminium edge bands can have an impact on receiving signals?

I should have some data points for you in a day or so. I’ve been taking some speed tests around where I live and work along with the cell signal quality on my iP11 Pro so I can compare it to my new 12 Pro

That would be really handy for me and maybe a lot of people that live in areas of low quality signal reception 👍

Having googled my question it seems people posting on Reddit are reporting amazing signal strength/quality for the iPhone 12 Pro compared to the 11 Pro so this is looking promising

For calls you mean? All everyone on here wants to do is give 5G stats. I would like to know if it's better streaming radio on the road too?

I don’t know if I’m allowed to copy/paste other sites on here but this was nothing to do with 5G it was generally people finding they could use their iPhone 12 Pro’s in areas that were black spots for the iPhone 11 pro’s so they no longer had zero signal or calls that dropped, if you google iPhone 12 pro signal/reception quality it should bring up the Reddit posts that caught my eye but in all honestly it’s looking very promising

My 12Pro so far seems light years better on reception than my Intel based X. Very pleased so far. This is the number one reason I upgraded from the X. I’ve even getting some consistent 5G signal here about 5-6 miles north eas of Orlando.

There’s some really positive replies coming in, I’m personally waiting for the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the more people are reporting back on the signal the more excited I am for an iPhone that finally looks like it can connect to a weak signal and hold onto it so the phone can be used as you want to be able to 😁

Guessing it's going to vary from location to location. I work in a basement. My work phone (iPhone 7 Plus) has spotty 3G service in my office but LTE throughout the hallway, my Pixel 2 was the same. Disappointed today to find out the 12 Pro doesn't have any service here at work, not even in the hallway. Same service provider for all 3 phones (Verizon).

Shocked nobody has done a review on this subject. Iphones have had crappy reception since the X and intel modems and this is earth shattering info and a major improvement. Then again most people don't live in rural areas and don't have a problem with fringe areas

I have not noticed any signal degradation from the 11 Pro Max to the 12 Pro. If anything, download speeds *feel* faster to me, but that could very well be software related instead of hardware related. I left my iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 13.
