The only thing that I can think of is setting up a Airport Express as a repeater for your friends wireless access point. But I think that all depends on their router too. Unlike PC Desktop wireless cards that have an antenna hanging out the back that you can replace with a stronger one, the iMac has the antenna built into the frame of the computer. So you best bet is to try the repeater. But I make no guarantees that it will work.

What you will do is plug the Express in closer to your friends place than your iMac is, and it should hopefully extend the range his wireless signal goes.

Is there something like that, but something i can put on the receiving end? That way i can take it with me and will be able to use it on other networks too, not just his. That is what i am looking for, but i want it to work on the receiving end.. i also have other wireless computers in my house, so it also doesnt need to go for my imac, but preferably, it will work with my imac. I also have a spare wireless pcmia card, so is there anything i can do??
