So came across this article on engadget regarding the glossy screen on both 11" and 13" MBA. Seems this company replaces your LCD led display with a matte version with the same specs for $249

Pretty old news there. Techrestore has been doing this for a while and although they say they'll replace it should you need to get the laptop serviced, I wouldn't bother. The gloss on the air has historically been better than the gloss on the mb and mbp.

Agreed.. Would I do it? Heck no, but for all the whiners around here saying omg it's too glossy then there is an option for them if their wallet permits.

The MBA actually doesn't have glass on the display, so it's not as bad as you think.

I know, I've used a rev a MacBook air before and have an 11.6" on order and have no problem with the display. I also don't care for Matte displays as everything seems dull to me. But hey to each their own right?

The resolution on the new MBAs are gorgeous. You'll be too distracted by that to notice the lack of glass. :p

And glass is too heavy anyway. My iPhone 4 is probably one of the heaviest smartphone in the market because of the glass.

Good if you have cash to burn I guess. For everyone else, I really don't think the added advantage of a matte screen is worth the $250. :/

This was a good post. I actually was searching down the new threads to ensure nobody else had listed it before listing myself. Anyways, one bit of recommendation for you, please, could you put something like "Anti-Glare Display for the MBA available for $250"

That would allow others to find it easier, and you could state "anti-glare/matte" which will allow others to find it easily rather than posting new threads or not seeing it.

This is a fair price for the service. For someone that wants to complain, they have an option that's fair for a third-party upgrade. Apple has done the research, and it knows what the vast majority want. The vast majority buy it in the store, and shiny and glossy looks amazing in the Apple Store.

BTW, too bad not everyone respects you listing this thread.

Thanks scottsdale. Changed the title, and glad you enjoyed the post. I do wonder though, after reading the article carefully it seems they also replace your bezel with a black one. I wonder if they have an option for you to keep the silver bezel if you like that instead?
