Anti-virus for when I need to exchange documents with a PC

What anti-virus (free) can I install in my MB to check if I have viruses that could affect a PC?
In college I exchange some files, and I don't want to pass a virus to a friend or something.

Your school may provide you with free Anti-Virus.

Our school distributes Symantec for both Mac and PC for free, upon request, to students.
