LOL!Inb4 GGJstudios comes and tells you that you don't need any antivirus.
There's a built-in firewall. Go to System Preferences > Security > Firewall to enable it.Very Interesting !
What about a Firewall when on the internet ? Same applies ? Does Apple have something inbeded in the OS that protects us from that threat ? Being a PC guy, this would be unheard of not having at least firewall protection.
Very interesting, I say. Thanks![]()

There is a firewall in the OS, as what GGJ told you.
The antivirus and frequent security updates were the reasons why i left Windows and switch to a Mac with OSX many years ago. Although I still work with PC boxes at work, but for my personal use, its all Macs.
Anyone have a special Anti Virus and or Firewall (Free or Paid version) you liked and that you can recommend ?
I had Microsofts free version and Comodo for the PC and now migrating to the Mac Mini 2011
Mac OS X viruses don't exist in the wild. Many people will tell you that viruses don't exist, can't exist, never existed or or never will exist. You reality is that malware does exist for the Mac, zero attacks do occur from time to time. However, it is very uncommon.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)
Although many people on this forum say you don't need anti virus for some Mac users it makes sense to scan downloaded files before sending them off again to a PC.
As for firewalls, dont you use a router with a firewall? The software firewall in OSX is good if you don't have a router and you're plugging strait into the wall.
Good to know that the Mac is more secure and safer than the PC until some hacker/Virus thug comes along and messes up this platform like they have with Microsoft OS's.
It's really not. In the hands of an ignorant operator, either system is equally unsecure.
