I already have both of them. I'm just wondering which one is better between those 2.

I tried AVG...didn't work
I'm on Vista by the way.

Avast! or AVG (as suggested above, it should work)?

And please search the forums. This question has been asked and answered a few times, unless you just want to narrow it down to your two choices, of course...

Hi,

Spyware Doctor is an anti-spyware only, and cannot be compared directly to McAfee Total Protection.

To get an actual comparison, you should chose Spyware Doctor with Antivirus or PC Tools Internet Security. I recommend PC Tools Internet Security, runs great and it's excellent at cleaning computers.

I'd recommend Kaspersky or Nod 32. Those 2 probably are the best anti virus programs on the net!

So you're saying that the McAfee Total Protection is better than just Spyware Doctor?

These are all horrible (save for Avast and NOD32).

Avira. It's super low impact (won't take up any resources) and is very solid. And free. Please, whatever you do, don't get AVG.

"Neither" is a very valid option when you're talking about bad software that wastes your money to boot.

a guy in a pc store once told me you can't have two anti virus programs running or you will get problems with your computer. is this true or did he mean two firewalls or something like that?

Two virus apps or two firewall apps will cause problems. Just have one running. If the virus app contains a firewall disable the Windows built-in firewall.

AVG works really really good on vista but that's only if you pay for it, and it works really good on XP as well...

Quick quesiton does it work on mac?

I used to use AVG when I had a PC for about 6 years.

Great free antivirus - it protected me from several viruses/trojans I downloaded.

Kaspersky is the best Anti-Virus out there, according to multiple tests. To answer the OP's original question: neither of the ones you mentioned are very good. Go with Kaspersky.
