Which Antivirus sofware is better... Symantec's Norton AntiVirus or Intego's VirusBarrier? Are there any other software options or are these the best?

anti-virus is great on PCs. i cannot emphasize this enough: keep ALL NORTON PRODUCTS AWAY FROM YOUR MAC.

if you get .mac, you'll get virex for free.

On a Mac? Save your money until you need antivirus.

Avoid Norton--anything with that name on the Mac platform causes more harm than good. Intego is trying to sell their product by exaggerating the new OS X Trojan Horse--which isn't a trojan horse and which doesn't really exist. So screw them. That leaves Virex.

Take the money you would have spent on Norton, get .Mac, and get Virex along with a ton of other useful stuff.

I seem to be going against the grain here, but I use Norton AntiVirus.. my Mac is my main machine, but it is on a network with several PC's, and Norton for Mac also recognizes PC viruses. Since most of my downloading is done on the Mac, and then pushed off to PC's, I prefer getting rid of the viruses on OS X, where they are harmless, and not trusting the Windows machines (which also have Norton) to catch them all. Of course, if Norton on the Mac misses them, chances are really high that Norton on the PC will, too, but that's what tape backups are for.
