Any 11.6 inch regrets?

I love it in the store and would only use it to write documents and scripts/web/occasional video.
But I have a sense the small screen and short wrist rest would cause me grief under long term use- fair?

FWIW- I have the revC 13inch 2.13 SSD with backlight- but due for some travel over the next few months

in my opinion, small screens are only an issue when you have low native resolution.

11.6 MBA feels to me like my old 13 inch macbook pro because it's an even higher native resolution than that.

It really is a great experience, everything looks so sharp...making my old 13 and 15 MBP look blurry in comparison

I agree, the high screen resolution does make a large difference. I came from a Mid 2009 white MacBook to the 11.6 and I can't really feel a difference in screen size.

cool- so screen size aside- how is the writing experience from a comfort point of view. Wrist and keypad- no cramped issues?

I absolutely love my new 11.6" macbook air! The keyboard feels great, and the wrist rests are the perfect size. The screen looks awesome. I sold my ipad to justify this purchase, and this feels as light and as portable as the ipad. I don't even feel it in my bookbag. It is really a high end feeling machine. It is not like a cheap netbook at all.

He's got an iPad and a 15" MacBook Pro (i7, 8Gb 128Gb SSD/1Tb SATA + 24" Cinema Screen) and an iPhone 4 too.


Reason he's ditching it? It's a 2Gb/64Gb and he's gonna buy a 128Gb/4Gb unit .

That sounds like me! Only I didn't solid state and I don't have 8GB of RAM on my 15in and I sold my iPad =/ but I sure got the maxed out 11.6in!!

I keep wondering if I'm gonna regret getting the 11.6in. I haven't used mine yet because still in China for the past two days!!!! I keep reading reviews on how awesome the 13inch is and I'm beginning to doubt myself...

I am also getting the maxed-out 1.6GHz / 4GB RAM / 128GB 11.6" MBA -- and mine has been stuck in Shanghai for 2 days also! sucks! Quoted delivery is Monday November 1st by 10:30am and I ordered it October 23rd at 2:30pm, that will be 9 days from order to delivery. And I ordered 2-3 day delivery.

I have a 13.3 MBA stock and my wife an 11.6 with upgraded SSD. She had people at Starbucks this morning all over her asking questions about the 11.6. I got no love at all. So, she has no regrets

I got the 4mb and I think its worth it. It is very fast and I can actually do photoshop on it without getting the beach ball. I got what everyone is now referring to as the "ultimate" edition, with the faster processor and bigger drive. After installing Photoshop, dreamweaver, microsoft office and putting some music an movies in itunes, I still have about 75 gb of the drive left. You would NEVER think that the processor is only a 1.6 speed. The air is so fast!

I am quite happy with my 11.6 incher. Just got back from the apple store with it a bit ago and moved everything over from my i7 15" MBP w/ a OCZ SSD. It is a bit slower of course...but not to the point that it is THAT noticeable. My programs open just as quickly. The resolution is only a bit lower and my windows 7 parallels VM runs quite well. Got the 4GB "Ultimate" one.

One piece of important software I used in Windows 7 runs great on this little thing and it is not light on resources. I think if you can get use to the resolution, this thing is perfect.

I am in love with the size!!!! No regrets!

my only regret with the 11" air is that the usb restore disk is wreaking havok on my restore procedures / preparations.

I have yet to see where expedited delivery when ordering a new product accomplishes anything but empty your wallet. Didn't accomplish anything for the first ordering wave of iPads or iPhone4s.

For me it ensured that it was shipped Fedex and not UPS, and it arrived a day ahead of schedule. I ordered on the 22 and received my air at 10 am on the 27th. A lot of people who ordered regular shipping on their airs and ordered when I did have still not received their computers.

I've got a maxed out 2007 MacBook Pro 15" (and am replacing it in Q1 2011), and am going to get the maxed out 11.6" Air.

For us with a high spec 15" MBP I don't really see any point in getting the 13" air - size wise I reckon it kinda loses the Netbook aspect of it.

That was what I was thinking as well but after using the 11.6 I ended up with the 13.3. It is not as small but still a very small footprint for its size and a dynamite screen. No regrets, I think

When it takes days to hit the states from China, expedited delivery makes no sense. If the origin is in the states, or almost local to the destination, it does.

I used it in the store and could barely use Excel on it. I don't know how well you're going to do writing scripts on it (if you're doing it all the time).

Sure didn't put much thought into his original purchase. That was an expensive mistake, no matter what he sold it for, unless his time is worthless.

11 ultimate aka 'the beast'

sounds a bit odd but the ergonomics of the 11 was a big selling point for me, those aluminium rests and the way my hands seem to fit the keyboard- made to measure! just the way it feels, its irresistible! hahahaha

great clarity, takes a little time to get used to tho but after a couple of hours it 'feels' like a 13 machine, do notice get closer to screen than other comps but also due to the high res.

i highly recommend trying them out in store, after typing and using the 11 there for around 30-40 mins i knew it was the model i wanted. very happy


side note: using readyNAS duo to store iTunes media content, WOW astounding performance over wireless network, there is no way to tell the content is stored remotely.
