Just wondering if there were any videos or articles comparing the new 2020 models to older iPads, e.g. 9.7", 10.5" or 12.9 gen 1/gen 2 Pros? I've seen loads that do speed tests vs the 2018 model, but none comparing it against anything older. I know A12X vs A12Z isn't massive, but would like to see the effects of extra RAM etc. Think this would be more useful to the 'average user' (including me!) who doesn't upgrade every year.

If you know of anything, please post it below!

I could only find a 2018 vs 2020 comparison.

I haven’t searched for those - what specific differences are you interested in learning more about? What apps do you use?

More just interested in the general speed/RAM management of the 2020 vs my current iPad. I don't really want to upgrade my 10.5", but it's developing white spots on the screen and I can get a pretty good education discount on a new one. I don't do too much heavy lifting on it, the most is using Affinity Photo/Designer to draw icons and create assets for my iOS apps. I wouldn't mind the new Pencil with double tap either, although it's not a massive upgrade for the cost.

I know it'll be very similar to a 2017 vs 2018 test, but just wondered if anyone had found a direct comparison. I wouldn't want to upgrade just for the lack of white spots, I'd hope there would be some performance increase too!

Upgraded 2017 to 2020 and didn't watch a single comparison video. I've read enough about the leap from 2017 to 2018 to know that an additional 2 year gap will be more than worth it.

No more touch ID or bezels as well. Looking forward to that just a little bit... in addition to the overall performance increase.

On UPS truck for delivery today. Not even second guessing the purchase.

I moved from a 2nd gen to 4th gen (2020) and it’s a huge upgrade. You’re going to be very happy.

That’s interesting that the 2018 beat the 2020 in the video export test. Other reviews have the 2020 beating the 2018 by a considerable margin. Maybe the apps have not been updated or optimized yet? 🤷🏻‍♂️
The 2020 was 252 seconds vs 245 seconds on the 2018. That is effectively the same.
