Any 21.5" iMac love?

I certainly agree the 27" is impressive and sure would buy it if it wasn't that big...

The iMac I currently use is an early 2006 20" core duo, always on standby on the dinner table; for me, running a small web business, but also as the family computer, kids homework, girlfriends mail and chat - the idea was always to be around, in talking distance, instead of being locked up in some distant 'computer-room'.

So yes, I will once again go for the 21.5", anyone else?

I have to decide if i return my new MBP (just a week old) and get a new 27" and a new Macbook or keep my MBP and get a 21,5" or get a 21,5" and a Macbook ... What should i do?

i don't know, i mean, is the old 24" that much smaller than the 27"? And it seems like 24 is a good size for the computer. Maybe 21.5 is too small and 24" is the sweet spot.

haha. Just got the 24" refurb today. Haven't opened though. Shipping off my Dell quad in a few days from an ebay sale.

Just debating on this Keep the 24" refurb or spend $120 extra on the 21.5 OR save for the 27" Quad. Quad would be awesome, but 27 might be tooo big?

I think 27" is far too big.

I used to think the same thing until I got a 27" display at work and run that and my 20" display side-by-side. Now, when I go home to my 20" iMac or my 15" MBP, the screens look tiny. That's why I just ordered the new 27 incher.

But I guess it depends on what you use it for. I do a lot of writing, where I'll have multiple Word documents or pdfs open and need them side by side. You just can't beat the screen real estate for that.

Maybe I should elaborate.

I meant too big for not being intrusive in a communal sense. A 27", at least in my tiny living, would be like "Hey! Don't ya think I kick ass!", way too omnipresent.

My 21.5 incher ships in 1-3 business days, it was a replacement for a white 2006 iMac, an AWESOME upgrade, free too. I love applecare and support even though I have been with no mac for about 1.5 months.

Here's what I would probably do. Get the 21.5 duo now, then in a few years get the quad or octo 21.5 Really wish Apple would have put quad on all these iMacs.

For me, ~22" is the perfect size.

I've actually changed my mind... I'm definitely going for the 27" now instead of the 21.5".
2560x1440 will be awesome for photo editing and design work. And I'm probably going to use this computer for years to come... so I might regret it if I buy the 21.5"

The 27" is only 3" wider otherwise the height and depth are the same

The 21.5 is perfect for the desktop in my view, going 27" starts putting you back further or using the device on the wall or even living room. Very happy that apple went 21.5 because I was thinking about a 24 but this is just right. My old small 20" 2600 pro machine now goes to the wife and kitchen. She is very happy about that and her Mini goes to the daughter. Everyone is happy and I get the bill but im the happiest still. Congrats to Jobs and his team in taking my hard earned $$$ once again. Lots of 21.5" Love here.

My 21.5 arrives tomorrow, really looking forward to it. I always thought the 20 was just a tad too small, while the 24 just seemed too big. This one should be just right! Bigger hard drive, sd slot, better screen than the old 20 - just what I was waiting for.

I won't be home, and can't get to the pre-sign document because it was a replacement but they are giving me the brand new one. So can I just sign a sheet of paper and leave a note???

27" "sounds" big, but when you consider that it's the result of going 16:9, the additional width isn't quite an issue, much like when LCD monitors went "widescreen"

Seriously, for me, it would be a total no brainer. Go for the new iMac all the way, You lose a mere 2.5" but retain the same awesome IPS panel. Not to mention the other bells and whistles that come with the new iMac. And being thinner with a smaller chin is like the sweet cherry on top.

Yea I know what you mean about the quad 27". I would love quad, but I feel the 27" is massive. Can't wait until Apple finds a way to fit it in the 21.5" later down the road. But also, the price of the 27" just can't be beat....

So that's a tough one I'd say....
