My 9.7 is showing it’s age, surfing is choppy and a bit painful. Constant browser tab and app reloads etc. And multitasking sometimes slows it to a crawl and audio breaks up. Considering pulling the trigger. Anyone upgraded? Is the experience better enough to justify?

My 9.7 pro still functions great. Battery is showing its age a bit. But I can replace that for 99 bucks. Not that I’m not eyeing a new 11 though, but mainly for a little more screen not for lack of performance of my 9.7

I replaced my 9.7 inch Pro with a new 11. Its a huge upgrade for me but I might regret it if Apple drops an early update in the Fall as rumored.

My 9.7 is feeling long in the tooth, especially since i managed to crack the glass. I am holding off to see the rumor about mini LED screens comes true.

Yes, most certainly! The 2020 iPad Pro has triple the amount of RAM, a much more powerful processor, and the 120Hz display makes everything feel buttery smooth. Face ID is another huge benefit depending on your opinion of it (generally faster than the 1st generation Touch ID sensor that was featured in the 9.7" iPad Pro).

I did, my new IPP 2020 is being shipped as I write this... will know more later but as my 9.7 is getting sluggish for sure I will appreciate the upgrade from that perspective And all the new features and performance upgrade

True yeah there’s been quite a few changes since my good old 9.7 came out! Like any expensive purchase you’re always hesitant but I’m leaning towards thinking it’s time

Seriously considering it but wanted to give the new keyboard case a try in the store but that’s not happening anytime soon. My battery is showing its age but with stay in place my screen time is over 12 hours per day. I also need my storage due to increasing media I keep on the iPad. 4 years is a pretty good run for a heavily used device.

I really want to get a new one, but without OLED or mini-LED I’m not interested. Also keep in mind that office apps will stop working like the sub 10 inch 9.7 pro without the paid office account.

Well I’ve done it now. I just hit that order button. I ordered the 11” with the otterbox folio, Apple Pencil, and the USB adapter for my audio interface.

Thanks all for your input! I even held off when the 2018 model was released. But now weeks of deliberation, reviews etc it was time. Not looking forward to that long delivery time but certainly understandable. Can’t wait!

Seriously considering it but keep changing my mind as to whether to go 11 or 12.9 OR MacBook Air. I’m just so entrenched in iOS it would take some adapting to go back to a Mac as a main device.
My 2016 9.7 has been hammered these last four years. It’s still decent but beginning to notice a difference in the battery life and getting a fair few safari reloads (I am somebody who keeps a lot of tabs open).

I had the same deliberation and I almost went Air but I have a Mac mini I use as my main desktop environment, and the iPad just has much better display features. Much more portable I can use it on the treadmill, couch, etc. Can’t setup a MacBook on a treadmill too easily ha

Yeah the reloads drive me crazy. Tabs and apps constantly.

I just made the jump to a 2020 11” from a 9.7 iPP. Ive only had it a couple of hours but I can already tell that this is a massive upgrade from the 9.7. The screen is amazing and I have immediately noticed the refresh rate increase and better quality. I have limited use so far but I’m not regretting the upgrade at all. My 9.7 was a great machine and it served me well for four years and I think that’s amazing for a “disposable” device.

Nice!! Yeah it sounds like a really decent upgrade I can’t wait to get mine. I haven’t even been using my 9.7 the choppiness is too painful just been using my phone. So when it comes in it’ll really seem even more of one

I recently went from the 9.7 pro to the 12.9 pro 2020. I’m still getting used to the size. its smooth like butter fast. I use a pillow pad and magic keyboard, so that helps with the size/weight. When the mini led comes out, I think Illl buy the 11in for personal and work usage and keep this big bad one at home. I do a lot of streaming and really wanted the bigger screen for home and portability for all around the house.
