Hi,

I was thinking about getting the ATV3 as i have the ATV2 at the moment. Is there any differences in terms on airplay? If i mirror my iPad (soon to be 4th gen), will it be any clearer or a bigger image on the lastest ATV3 as it is full 1080p?

Thanks

Faster---smoother I'm assuming. Plays 1080p. I just tried the airplay from a 2011 27" iMac n 2012 15". Both works great, really smooth.

Your Internet connection does play a role in how smooth your airplay will be.

no it doesn't.
local network connection has something to do with it, internet connection has nothing to do with it

I use a ATV3 and the desktop of my MBP is displayed in full screen (46 inch TV), the video quality is however questionable. Using safari via airplay does not even get close to the quality your used to on the MBP itself.
My TV is just a few month old by the way....

I upgraded from a atv2 to atv3. I didn't notice a difference with AirPlay as there still seems to be a slight lag. The upgrade was nice though as you can certainly tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. It's worth the update for that alone.

Explain the difference to me :)

seriously you don't know the difference between local network and internet?

local network is everything internal to your location, ie traffic that never leaves your local network. this speed depends on the capability of wifi or ethernet connections.

internet is any traffic that is external to your local network.

airplay content from an iphone or mac to an appletv is internal traffic.
