Is there any podcast app out there that isn't completely worthless?

Apple's iteration of the Podcast app gets worse with every single version of iOS. They haven't had a good, decently working app in probably 5-7 years. With this latest "upgrade" my downloads stall unless I cancel them and restart them all manually, I get periodic issues where there is no sound that comes plays out of the podcast app, and that I am magically unsubscribed from podcasts where I've been subscribed for ages. Not to mention that syncing between iTunes and the iPhone is incredibly buggy with podcasts I've already listened to being marked as "new" and "unlistened.

The bugs are really driving me nuts. Really looking for a good alternative that will let me subscribe, download, and listen.

Does someone know if Downcast also support URL schemes to certain podcasts or playlists?
I would really like to instantly start playing my offline playlist when I open the app via Launcher widget instead of opening the app first and then select it.

I've reached out to the developer to look into adding this option.

came here to ask this same question..can't believe how often the podcasts stall d-loading in the podcasts app. cmon apple. get your stuff in order.

not sure if i'll shell out money for a podcast app or not

If you are really annoyed by Apple's own podcast app I would guess to just spend a few dollars on a great alternative podcast app. A few have been mentioned here already but there are lots of others in the App Store.
