Any app that can turn iPhone into bluetooth transmitter for headphones?

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that I would like to use to listen to non bluetooth sources. Like many bluetooth headphones they sell a 3.5mm jack bluetooth transmitter in the $50 range. I don't want to spend $50. Is there an app that would allow me to plug my iphone into a 3.5mm jack audio output and have the iphone transmit the audio to my headset? Audio would be input to the iPhone and the iPhone would send it to my bluetooth headset. Could this app be created?
 
I don't know of an app, but I guess it could be made. They can record in on the mono mic channel and then send out the audio using the standard output (with a Bluetooth headset synced it would output to there anyway.)

The question is that you would have to leave your iPhone next to the source and the Bluetooth quality isn't good over distance. The iPhone would also be a little useless while the app was open on OS3 so seems like a lot of effort to go to for saving $50.

Doesn't mean someone wouldn't do it though.

A simple app that would take the place of a $50 piece of hardware sounds good to me. I run on exercise machines at the gym with tv's on them. They have a 3.5mm audio output for headphones. I would like to be able to plug my iphone into the 3.5mm jack to have it transmit the audio to my headphones. It's better than buying a separate tranmitter that I would have to carry, charge, and buy.

Did you find a solution to this? I am also looking for a Bluetooth transmitter app.
 
If you can get the 3.5mm into your iPhone, try the Rode Record app or similar (Garageband?) and select live monitor. In your audio out settings on the phone, try Bluetooth to your headphones.

Tried playing and recording with passthrough ON and nothing came out of the Bluetooth speaker at all while it was paired. I used the LT version of the RODE Record app, I didn't want to spend the $4 to get the full version. they might have a bluetooth out integration on the full version. Let us know if you try it!

I have an old iPhone 4s that I want to hook my son's xbox 360 to bluetooth headphones with. Would also be cool as an option for other random applications where bluetooth could save the day, like at a gig.
