Any Apple way to create index of multiple PDF's?

Hi, I've got many PDF's of magazines and wish to create a searchable index of the articles as listed in the Tables of Contents. I've tried the Adobe suggested method with limited success and am wondering if there is a slicker Apple tool for this. Any help?

It probably depends on how well your magazine PDFs were OCRed, but a Spotlight search works for me. Also works for searching beyond just titles, of course.
