I love Hide My Email.

Sometimes I go to a web site thought that the email field does not trigger the option.

So at that point I go back to Apple mail, make up a to and domain email address then choose "hide my email" and copy and paste (via textsniper) the address and go back to the original web page and put that email in the field.

Any ideas as to how to automate this? I bet only apple mail can call this feature so maybe a Shortcut?

thx

In this case, the "proper" way to create a new address is by going to Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud -> Hide My Email. That's not exactly any easier though, and I wish Apple would simplify this process.

However, you can create a shortcut to take you directly to that screen by opening the following URL: prefs:root=APPLE_ACCOUNT&path=ICLOUD_SERVICE/PRIVATE_EMAIL_MANAGE.

Once you have it created, add it to your Home Screen or show it in the Share Sheet. The shortcut should look something like this:

wow. thank you so much!

I did not even know that setting was there. I just did what you said on my iPhone, and on the last step I tap long hold, copy the email address, and then switch to my mac, and it's in the clipboard due to Universal clipboard!

Woot!

Whoops, I totally missed this was posted under "Mac Apps". My shortcut above only applies to the iPhone/iPad.

The "Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud -> Hide My Email" also applies to the Mac though, at least in Ventura. You wouldn't necessarily have to do it on your phone.

Follow this guy on mastodon, he is one of the top Apple Shortcuts guy, if something like a 16.5 adds this feature, he will tell you for sure:

He does has a rather large Shortcuts Library as well so be sure to look thru that if you have not yet.
