iPhone X Any benefit to vertical cameras?

I find that my left index finger is touching the camera lens a lot more under normal use due to the vertical camera stacking. Never had this problem on my 7 plus. Today some of my photos came out blurry because of the oils.

Is there any benefit to this orientation over side by side?

just hold your phone slightly lower?

im guessing that with the various faceID sensors, there is less space at the top now
