They have done stuff like that before. 6 months is a long time in technology land. 16 GB would really be nice to put some video content on the thing and not having to constantly swap out movies.

I have an 8 GB nano and I only have about 3 GB full and I put the unit on shuffle all the time, I hardly ever hear the same song in a listening session, so as far as music goes, I am fine with that, but movies can be over a gig a pop and pictures can add up very fast.

My biggest fear other than they sell out is all they have left are the 4 GB models nobody wants.

Is that an iPhone?

I would also believe the same thing, except that I thought I read somewhere that it costs Apple about $35 for each 4GB chip, so would Apple really want to add another $70 to there costs?

However, a 16GB flash iPod video has been predicted for a long time.

I think this is definitely possible, but i don't want it to happen.

Why? How we could bitch about price after that? After months of accepting 4/8gig at 5/600$....how could we bitch about 100 dollars a month with 8/16 gigs

You will see it in like 3 months, possibly with the launch of the European model, much to the dismay of American early adopters.

Bingo! We have a winner! (Although it may be closer to 4-6 months).

You are both way off. DO NOT expect the Euro or Asian release to be different. They cannot come up with the numbers they expect if they change models so quickly.

2nd Gen iPhone will be late 2008

It wouldnt be a second generation iPhone. Just an update to the flash size. You honestly think that 18 months down the line Apple will still be using 8GB flash in its premiere product when the Nano and every other competing device is likely to be 16GB?

That would be a nice (and very welcome) pre-launch surprise indeed, esp. if they were at the same prices. I'd go for 16 then, I think. Otherwise, 8 all the way. No reason to get 4. Maybe Apple will take a cue from Sony canceling the 20GB version of their PS3. I wonder if the units out for review are 4 or 8GB. If they're all 8, then there's still hope Apple will announce a bump.

Would be nice, but I am guessing it is highly unlikely.

Apple is pulling out all the stops to get the buzz as high as possible before launch.

If they did make this change we will know about it before Friday for sure. I just don't see it though.

I think its a too late for them to do this. We all hoped for increased storage space on the AppleTV before it was released, but that didn't happen till after launch.

I expect to see the same on the iPhone. They will release a larger model in a few months. Maybe hold a press invitation and introduce an updated line of iMacs.

It doesn't make sense for them to do this. Think of it in simple terms: Why would Apple suddenly INCREASE storage when everybody is set with the current prices and capacities?? The cost to double storage im sure would be a premium for the consumer. The only way I would see a scenario like this happen is for them to release the 4 and 8 gb models and surprise us with a 16gb model for $699, but I doubt that would happen next week.:apple: :apple: :apple: :apple:
