Any chance for a future iMagazine Store App?

I realize that a lot of magazine companies may create their own apps, but a centralized space for magazines would be very useful. They could easily group magazines together if you own multiple issues of the same magazine and for monthly subscriptions it would be nice to always have the current one on the iPad (no internet) with access to all the back issues through the cloud.

Would it be that much harder to manage for Apple than the bookstore?

I installed the Zinio magazine and newstand reader app and it seems to do a lot of the above.

Im still on the fence on the ipad. I have some magazine subscriptions that I wouldnt mind seeing in an ibookstore format. I dont think I would like an individual app for every mag. I like the way itunes updates podcasts automatically and if it would work like that for mags, they'd have me sold.

I am very disappointed with the current lack of magazines on the iPad.

Firstly, as a journalism student looking to enter the currently-struggling magazine business, the iPad and similar devices could open up amazing doors for the entire industry.

Secondly, if I read correctly, Condé Nast Publications was going to offer some or all of their magazines via the iPad (the three mentioned were GQ, Vanity Fair, and Wired).

Thirdly, it would be amazingly convenient.

I would like a baseball weekly/sports weekly app. It's made by USA Today so it shouldn't be difficult.

I agree completely about not wanting individual apps for different mags. I haven't checked out the Zinio app but will later. It seems short sighted of Apple not to bundle magazines in with iBooks. I know that ebooks are what's in the news right now, but the iPad will excel at magazines. The iPad needs to be prove that it can do books like the Kindle, but it's in magazines where it can revolutionize the industry.
