I am going to be getting a MacBook after the WWDC, but I HATE the glossy screen. Any chance they will announce a matte screen option by then?
that's just stupid... they offer an option on the MBP, why not on the MB?coastertux said:I think Apple's reasoning is that the glossy screen looks better but isn't as good for professional applications like graphics. Hence the default matte screen on the MBP and the glossy as the only option on the MB.
Have you actually seen the glossy screen in person? Everyone has their own preferences, but honestly, I thought the reflections and the glare would be much worse than they are (I switched from a PB to this MB) and most of the time I forget it's even a glossy at all. They're much better than the PC glossies.KilGil27 said:that's just stupid... they offer an option on the MBP, why not on the MB?

QCassidy352 said:agreed. IMO they're like 75% glossy, 25% matte.
There are some things I don't like about them - like color accuracy and brightness when doing any graphics.. but my external monitor will be matte and accurate, so when I'm on the go, who cares.KilGil27 said:I've seen plenty of it, my friend has one and I've been looking at them at the Apple store. I just don't like them

While this is certainly true, no one should really be using a laptop LCD as a final check (unless necessary) before going to press. They're just not quite up to par, even when properly calibrated. The macbook is a better buy anyway, plenty of extra cash for a nice LCD.coastertux said:I think Apple's reasoning is that the glossy screen looks better but isn't as good for professional applications like graphics.

For looking at pictures and DVD's, it's awesome, but since I need to match the color from my display to my printer, the glossy screen won't work for me. I need to see the color saturation that my printer will have. If you aren't into high-quality photo color calibration, then the glossy screen is sexy.
I also agree with the above comment. If you need professional color calibration, you're going to have to go pro. Sowwy!![]()
Vibrant i think is the word that you are looking for and just dont touch the screen, it is a simple compromise to having to clean it.daneoni said:Im actually starting to like the glossy screen. Its colours are more vibrate and easy on the eyes, the matte screen colours are quite bland. Downsides though its a pain to clean and the glare.

For example, I compared the MacBook screen with my friend's Vaio and that thing was almost unusable outdoors. However, whenever I plan on getting a MacBook Pro, I'm probably going for the matte finish just because it looks more professional and is better for some things.
