If they would have stayed with G4 and G5 this would be the case, you must have advancement in your cpu to keep selling computers but with the switch coming to Intel this is now mute. G4/G5 there's the door now get you slow butt out of here.:D

do you see this happening in the future?

god i really hope not:eek:

in the near future, no way

but over time it's very hard to tell where a large, or even small company will go

for instance, one college, as an organization, i went to was an rop school for the trades for high school students...but now they are one of the top agricultural universities in the united states offering a whole host of bachelor's and master's degrees

a friend of mine has a dad who had a successful venetian blinds business which eventually morphed into a retail musical instuments business

apple inc. will last decades imho, but it's anybody's guess what they will be doing decades from now

I think that the line between consumer electronics and computers is getting continually blurred, particularly since the advent of CDs and DVDs. e.g. the TiVo that I am watching in the background has a CPU/HDD and USB ports, runs linux, but I wouldn't call it a computer.

No. It won't happen. If anything like this were to happen, more likely Apple would spin Ipod off into its own company and keep Apple and Ipod seperate but probably both still owned and directed by Steve. Of course that wouldn't happen, unless someone gets greedy and wants to double the amount of stock (Two companies=two times the stock.) But that won't happen. Don't worry about it.
