iPad Pro Any Chance Of Ever Seeing A WideScreen iPad?

After all these years, I'm still holding out on a iPad as I create and watch a lot of cinematic video content - but the 4:3 Aspect Ratio of the iPad's has always put me off.

What are the chances of Apple introducing a WideScreen version? - similar to how the iPhone made this change from the 4S to the 5?

Probably not. The 4:3 makes iPad distinctive compared to most of the other tablets out there, and widescreen is not particularly appealing for most other uses. To get what you are yearning for, perhaps they will deliver an OLED or QLED/LCD screen where the black bars are truly black. I would certainly approve of the latter idea, but Apple would probably not go that route.

People's experiences differ but I find 16:9 tablets to be very awkward. They're too narrow when held in portrait mode, too wide in landscape. Although 16:9 is generally the standard widescreen AR for TV, it isn't so much with theatrical films that can go much wider than that.

I watch a lot of video on my tablets. Letterboxing is not eliminated on my 16:9 Android tablets because some content is much wider. And of course there is pillarboxing when watching Academy AR content.

As for the chances of Apple producing a 16:9 AR iPad... pretty much zero.

Yep widescreen tablets are a nightmare in terms of usability and any other use except watching videos, essentially making it a standalone monitor.

You do get sorta a wide screen effect if you turn your iPad on it’s side. But other than that I don’t think the technology is there.

Yeah Im not a fan at all of the widescreens at all. To me that is why an iPhone Max or Plus or however you see it can never replace an iPad mini. I personally would prefer cinema standards get narrower to fit nicer in my iPad screen

Though I know how frustrating it is though waiting for something that you want to happen but its an uphill battle... sometimes the iPad just cant be the answer we are looking for.

You should check out the new 11”. It is much closer to 16:9 than any other iPad. 16:9 content fills much more of its screen. It is the first non-4:3 iPad.

It has a lot of other “version 1.0” issues; but as a video player it has a distinct advantages.
