School starts soon and im thinking of trading my MBP in for a MacBook/iMac. So i can easily carry the macbook for on the go and come home to do heavy lifting on the iMac especially since a new revision is almost guaranteed to be happen.

However im thinking i should hold off on the MacBook till an update BUT i dont see the MB being updated again this year to be honest and probably not until macworld or later because the next logical upgrade would be a jump from 2.00/2.16 C2D to 2.00/2.2 C2D and if done, the low-end MBP sales will probably dwindle. Since the MBPs just got updated......things might remain this way a while.

Any thoughts?

I don't remember the exact wording, but didn't Jobs says earlier that all Macs would be LED display by end of 2007? If that's right, then there's at least that incremental update coming - who knows if they will update the rest of the MB (e.g. SR) or just the backlight.

I'm pretty sure that he said the end of 2008.

Yeah thats what i thought. Besides transitioning the entire product lines to LEDs is no easy task given the scarcity of the LEDs combined with the massive popularity of the MacBooks as well as heavy competition for units from Sony, Dell etc. I mean they haven't even transitioned the 17" MBP which isn't so popular and im guessing thats because the arent many 17" LEDs available. Dunno....just theorising.
