Any chance of ordering online tomorrow?

(I'm a bit hesitant to even write this...)

I know that there is about a .1% chance of this happening ... but is it possible that the "one more thing" or surprise announcement at WWDC is that the iPhone can be pre-ordered online tomorrow.

Now back to reality...if not tomorrow, does the iPhone become available for online order on the 29th. Does that total projected 3MM units include online orders? Will online orders work like Amazon phone orders, what about if you're extending existing contracts?

Man, i've got too many questions. Aside from how the damn thing works (finer unknown details), I don't even know how most people are even going to be able to get their hands on one.

I hope we get a few answers tomorrow. Regardless, I'll be on line the 28th...sleeping over...at the NYC midtown store. WHO's commin' with me

I very seriously doubt they will be accepting pre-orders at any date. The phone is being released on the 29th.

My guess is that it will be available for order online on or after the 29th. Even if its sold out every where, you will at least get a place in line towards getting it drop shipped.

3 million units is a pipe dream, I don't see how Apple could produce 3 million units for an initial production run, in 1 month.

I echo your comments and would like to add that I would be worried about quality of the iPhone if they pushed out that many in such a small window of time.

You're assuming that the iPhone has only been in production since the beginning of June. We don't really know when Apple started the manufacturing ramp-up. Maybe they've been building them for months and stockpiling them unpackaged, waiting for the final version of the software to be ready before boxing them for shipping.
