any chance that the iPhone 14 Pro Max will be lighter than the heavy iPhone 13 Pro Max?

last year, I ended up returning the 13 Pro Max because I just couldn't live with the weight.... ended up getting a non-Max version.

Bigger camera bump and same stainless steel frame.....no chance. Maybe get the 14 max.

The 13 pro max is not heavy… I don’t know why it’s thought to be a heavy phone. If it weighed 5 pounds then it would be considered heavy. May I ask why you think it’s heavy? Of course I don’t know you, but I’m a big guy, large hands and therefore it’s not heavy for me. I’d actually like it a little thicker and heavier.

But to answer your question, the 14 pro max might be a few grams or more heavier. If Apple releases the 14 max, non pro, it will probably be made of aluminum, that would be a lighter iPhone.

When you compare it to some of the cheaper devices, say the Pixel 6 pro, which feels almost hollow and cheap AF the iPhone 13 PM does feel heavy. That said, I don't think that is a bad thing at all.

Yeah I think the pixel 6 is plastic. I’m definitely not interested in a plastic iPhone. To me, weight = quality. Remember the galaxy S4 or 5? It was all plastic except the glass display. The back of it easily peeled off to access the battery. That was a cheaply made phone.

It's not heavy in the same way lugging around text books is heavy, i.e, a constant nag in your pocket but it's heavy enough to cause hand fatigue in certain situations like using one hand to hold the phone in landscape above your head when laying down. Also it can be a bit unwieldy when performing one hand gymnastics to reach corners. A lighter phone would definitely make those sorts of situations a lot easier.

The rumored non pro max is going to sell very well I imagine especially for those that are completely satisfied with the current camera systems. I would also like to state that aluminum has always been considered more premium than steel from strictly a material standpoint.

Pixel 6 is not plastic lol.
It has an Aluminium frame and a Glass back. Same materials as the non-Pro iPhones.

And it weighs quite a hefty 204g, which is similar to the 13 Pro and far heavier than the regular 13 (174g)

There were rumours that future Pro-iPhones might get a ceramic back.
A hypothetical iPhone 15 PM with ceramic back and stainless Steel would quite easily weigh something like 270g.
Talk about heavy phones...

There are rumors of a titanium chassis this year for the Pros, but unconfirmed. Could be lighter if that’s true.
Knowing apple, they wont incorporate 2 USP in a single iteration. This year the USP for Pro phones will be the pill shape and punch hole display, next year the USP will be titanium and thus much lighter along with other cosmetic improvements

Sorry OP, I don’t think there’s a snowballs chance it will be lighter. I’d even wager it won’t even be the same if rumors turn out to be correct. Apple seems to think increasing a couple of grams here and there will go unnoticed, but comparing it to a comparable sized competitor, it is a heavy phone.

I highly doubt it unless they use some super light yet strong new material for the frame. I fully expect the 14 Pro Max to surpass the 13PM in both weight and possibly size to as they still may put an even bigger battery and also it’s rumoured to have a larger camera sensor.
