Assume jailbroken 3.0, 3g with mobile substrate installed. Wish to avoid sbsettings and winterboard.

I always thought that the Volpower3G plugin would circumvent it, but it doesn't... I would also like to get around it.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (white): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

Isn't there something called tricker-something? Like tricker3G or something like that?

yes, but I can't tell whether it circumvents the itunes cap (in addition to skype restriction, etc...) and, if so, what one would need to do (i.e. SSH+edit a file, etc...) to make it work.

Well, have you tried it?

nope, was hoping someone would tell me whether/how it works, since, if it requires editing a file, I'd need someone to tell me which one.

i think there is an XML file or plist file associated with VoipOver3G, and in it it shows which applications will actually get 'tricked'. If you can find that file, you should be able to add iTunes to the list, and that should trick it into thinking it's on WiFi.

You would have to add iTunes by it's full name, which is something like com.apple.iTunes or something.

Thanks, but I recall reading, several months ago, that that edit didn't do the trick.
