Hello.

Is there some kind of Lightroom or Photos/iPhoto for audio / sound files out there?

I could not find any dedicated software for this.

I recently got a Tascam DR 40 to record sound bites to get a collection of sounds I have heard throughout the city, and I would like to sort them with metadata and such.

Or are there only big DAM solutions for post production companies out there?

Thank you.

Audacity is a free audio editor and you can apply metadata when exporting from it.

There are several free audio metadata editors for Mac. Look for one that allows editing multiple files at once if you think that might be helpful.

iTunes has pretty good metadata editing.
