I’m sooooo close to being able to work off the iPad, I just need a desktop class browser to view some websites and save files properly

Puffin doesn’t really work on the new iPad, and Safari isn’t cutting it. Chrome uses the same webkit framework Safari does, so.... are there any options that work?

Right now, I’m remoting into my 15 MBP - but that’s a really bad workaround. So, any desktop browser out there?

Why isn’t Puffin working? I haven’t noticed a difference.

Any browser on iOS has to use apple’s WebKit anyway. There’s no other way to release a browser on the AppStore.

Although because WebKit is open source Google chose to build chrome on that. Only recently they started to move away from WebKit for the other platforms.

Saving files to local storage from Office Online (Excel) doesn’t work. It saves the html file of the website instead. I can’t access this specific file using the Excel app, has to be Online only.

Also some stability issues... some I didn’t have when I had the 10.5 ipad

Do you not have a [Open in Excel] button/link in the menu bar? I'm able to transfer a file to local storage and open in the native Excel app this way.

yup - but this specific excel didn't work

It was a sharepoint directory based file. So you had to open it with a specific email address (work). Because my O365 subscription is personal, I use my own email address for it. That created a block, and Excel would not open the file

Did you try Photon browser? :)

If you haven’t reported this issue to Microsoft, you should. This is something they really should fix.

Icab is a very good browser. I use it to download files mainly. Has loads of other features which I have no tapped into.
