Besides paying more in the end, do you still get the same coverage?

If I was to buy the $3.49 apple care for ipad, then I break the screen by accident after 2 months having paid $6.98 would I still be covered?

I want to have peace of mind and not show up to the store when I have an issue only to be hit with the "because you pay monthly your coverage is different"

Absolutely it's the same coverage, and you would be covered as long as you keep paying the monthly premium. I do monthly because I know I'll probably trade-in my device and would rather cancel the coverage than requesting a refund. But that's something to know: even if you pay the whole amount, it's easy and fast to request a refund on the pro-rated portion.

The fact you are paying up front for something you likely will never use. Pretty large downside to me.

You can always cancel AppleCare and get a prorated return if you don't go the full 2 years. That helps the sting a little.

I think you’re able to go beyond 2 years if you do it monthly?
If you pay up front, you're offered the option of continuing on a monthly basis at the end of the two-year term. If you've been paying monthly, you simply continue to do so until you no longer want it.

When I was picking up my iPad mini last week (returned) the apple employee was pushing apple care…then when I bought the ipad9 at BB the apple dude there pushed the apple care. There must be some directive from high above to sell it. Never had an apple employee in years past push it.

That’s because it’s for suckers. Apple loves selling this crap.

To each their own. I am a huge fan of AppleCare+. Out of all the devices I've ever owned, I've never had the ability to walk into a store and out again with a new device in minutes like I do with Apple and AppleCare+.

My wife, after almost 3 years of owning her MacBook Pro had a "service battery" warning and got a brand new battery, keyboard for $0 on a 2017 MBP (purchased in 2018) earlier this year.

I like the services it provides and yeah, it's a little bit of $ but worth it to me.

I'm an Apple sucker? lol.

Probably because AC+ is likely 90+% profit.
