Any ETA on whatsapp on M1?

When will it be, anyone know? I know Rosetta 2 will run it, but some people have reported high battery drain etc because of this. Would be so much better to use whatsapp when its optimized for M1

It also uses a lot of memory, check the top 2 processes using memory on my iMac right now.

Exactly. Thats why I much prefer to wait for the native M1

WhatsApp uses Electron for their "desktop" app (it's basically a web app with its own bundled version of Chromium), so don't get your hopes up, it will still be a slow piece of crap with non-native UI and a huge memory footprint.
