Anyone here who has a Canon G6? would this be sufficient for professional use?

:D

Knowing full well that we are on the very cusp of a Nikon / Canon war in this thread.... ;)

What do you mean by professional use?

If you mean creating art photography, studio work, photojournalism, etc, I seriously doubt anything that isn't SLR is going to satisfy you. In fact SLR long and away before digital even.

There might be some professional uses for which that's not true...I would guess that would fall into very light usage to get material for website development or something like that, where there's a relatively low premium on use of photographic / artistic effects or versatility....

Good luck though!

OK you got me, not professional level. I am an amateur photographer and i want a lot better pics than what a regular point -and- shoot can offer. i love doing macro shots also, thats an area where point -and- shooters really suck.

No, no, I didn't mean it that way at all. In fact, professional or non-professional, I think one of the biggest questions is whether you want access to a range of artistic effects, etc. If you're a professional who has to take quick snapshots for some kind of documentation purpose, I think you need an SLR a lot less than an amateur who wants to make art. :) But sadly, SLRs are pretty expensive....
