Dear all,

I am a happy iPhone 5 ios 7.1.2 user and I would like to know if anybody is currently happy with the performance of the iphone 5 on ios 9.3 . Every feedback is more than welcome regarding this :)

Performance on the iPhone 5 is smooth. Battery life, all depends on what you do on the phone and how much life is left.

I have my 5 on 8.2.1, and only use it for music and GPS on my motorcycle... Should I make the jump to 9.3, or just leave it where it is for speed?

I have a 6+ on 9.3, so I have my 9.3 fix there.

Well from what I've been reading, battery life is good on some phones but not others. I would go for it, especially since there's an iMessage risk with those older iOS versions. Heard about it on the news last night. But with battery life, YMMV.

I thought about the imessage risk, but I have imessages turned off. It has its own number, it is only used for music and GPS.

iMessage risk? Haven't heard about that. Of course I'm waiting to updated my 5 given all the issues with activating older devices. Although I did updated my iPad Mini 1 yesterday without issue.

No problems with 9.3 on my 5. It always uses lots of battery after an update for a while ... Indexing? I do a hard reset, after the update, leave it on 24 hours, then turn it off, then back on. After this it runs smoothly, normal battery use.

Personally, I really like the tweacks that ios 9.3 is offering for the iPhone in general. Especially the quick reply in third part apps.. My only concern is the speed as well as the animation and the multi task for each app. For example on my ipad I can browse on safari, then i open facebook, messenger, weather etc. Afterwards if I wanna go back to facebook, the app is driectly relaunched and it takes too much time in my opinion. That's sth I don t face with my iphone 5 on ios 7. So I am just gathering information how for you guys on a daily basis the phone works, because actually I would be happy to update it and use these new things, however if I loose on speed etc I would afterwards be more tended to switch the device....

Hackers found a way to access photos and videos with older iOS versions like iOS 8.

My iPhone 5 seems to handle iOS 9 just fine. I don't have much issue in performance.
Battery life on the other hand is problematic. Note that he iPhone 5 has a really tiny battery, even smaller than the 5c. Add on its age, just don't expect miracles. Even with low power mode, mine barely lasts 3/4 of a day. And this is without the vampiric Facebook app.
