Hi Guys, I know this is old, but my buddy gave me his MBP 2015 13" , he said its locked ( bricked ) after he tried to install Big Sur when it 1st came out. I know that Apple updated it to 11.1 .. IS there any known fix to get it back working again to get 11.1 on this locked up machine? TIA ... for any replies. Some articles say SMC reset needs to be done some people say it needs a new logic board.

Very quick experiment:

Can you boot to INTERNET recovery?
Command-OPTION-R
at boot

You'll need to enter the wifi password.
The utilities take a while to load, so be patient "as the globe spins".

Try this -- it won't take long -- and get back to us with your results.

If this works, the road ahead "opens up"
But you must try the above first.

That did the trick. SMC reset did nothing. Worked like a charm! Mavericks installed now. Ill go to Big Sur 11.1 which I know is stable now for this machine ! Thank you so much for your help!
