really want to know if they re quick enough, or if I should order a regular ssd. The crucial ssd sale ends in 3 days and I wouldn't want to miss on their offer

Why would you do that when the Apple OEM SSD is almost the same price as the Crucial or a little more? Is saving a $100 really worth it for giving up a Apple supported SSD with native Trim or taking a chance of voiding your warranty.
Wouldn't a trim enabled and supported SSD from Apple be worth the little extra? The Apple SSD is a Samsung 830 Apple branded most likely, the same used in the MacBook Pros. The Apple SSD samsung based SSD is only $300.
Given the price of the Apple branded SSD in the Mini's, a third party SSD is not a good idea in my opinion. Too many town sides for saving a $100. Not worth it.
I m really interested in speed. and thats why I m holding on. I prefer on buying the Fusion Drive from Aplle for all of the Reasons you mentioned. I agree totally 100%. But if read/write speeds arent as good as mbp scores, and are closer to the dissapointing 2011 imac scores, then I prefer buying a 3rd party ssd. I have also the option for a small fee to give the drive to my local apple reseller and they do the install for me without jeopardizing me warranty
Well if speed is your concern, don't be. The Samsung based Apple SSD is based on the Samsung PM 830, one of the best on the market. I have a Apple branded SSD in my non-retina 2012 15 MBP and it is a Samsung based 830. Not sure if the 2012 Mini's use the same drive, they should. But I ordered a Mini 2.6 i7 with 256 SSD and will update you when I receive it this week. Due to be delivered between Nov 1st-5th. I am curious as well about the fusion drive. But HD heat and noise I don't like so I will be staying away from any HD in my mini since only a $50 price separates the two.

heat was one issue I hadnt considered. I m opting too for the 2.6 i7, might go the same path as you on the storage solution
