Or anything similar. I noticed Check Mark (or something like that), but not what I am wanting.

What I would like to see is something like notes with being able to sub categorize where I can be able to check mark the things that I get.

I am a racer and everytime I pack up for the weekend, I would like to have a list and be able to check each item when I do pack them into the truck. At the same time being able to have other lists that I can go into and make more categories without having to delete my track list.

I hope I explained this well enough.

Sounds like you want a Task application. You would create Projects (those are your categories) and have the ability to create subtasks (those are your "other lists") within them.

It wouldnt take much effort to put extra power into notes

but then it would make redundant a pile of apps (im thinking shopping lists etc)

Yeah I tried shopping lists, but it only has one page. Cannot sub categorize it at all. Thing is useless unless you use it for just shopping.

Alittle late I know, but these apps aren't what I am looking for.

I don't need a date for anything. I just need folders that I can put for each subject that I have to go back to for trips that I do constantly and don't want to retype them for every trip that I go on.

Take a look at...

Evernote. This app works directly with your desktop and iPhone and online. You are able to access your lists anywhere, anytime. I have created packing lists with sub-lists of different trips that required different items. I have created a media shopping list with sub lists of music, movies, software, books, apps. Once created, you can add in your little check boxes for each item and then mark it as a favorite and it will now be available off line. You can take photo notes, voice notes or if you are online on your computer and see a list already pre built or any other item, you can activate evernote and it will save a copy of that web item to your account or a business card...the list is endless and works perfect for me and all of my lists.

Good Luck

using evernote offline?? word docs? search?

CAN YOU view your notes when you are offline line with evernote? i am a former palm pda user and synced notes on the pda with my cpu.
if i am offline, can i use evernote on my i touch?
any other ideas?
i miss not being able to put word and exceldocs on the itouch. is there a way to do that?
is the only way to search on the itouch in contacts?--not calendar?

Alainr...Yes you can view your notes "off" line. While on your iPhone...and viewing your notes, if you look up in the left hand corner, you will see a blue star. Click it and it will save a copy to your favorites that can be viewed at anytime.

My current fix for viewing word docs is to open the document on my laptop. Highlight and copy the document and then paste it into a new note in Evernote. I do this for college...I type my notes in word, then copy paste into Evernote and bingo...I have my study notes with me to look at anytime anywhere. This works well and lets me edit the document if needed. For power point...same thing...copy and paste the slide into a new note in Evernote, sync, save as favorite and you have your power point show with you.

Your surfing the web on your laptop...you see a picture that has right click options blocked, just highlight it and clip it using the Evernote Web Clipper add on. It saves that blocked picture to your Evernote Desktop and is now a savable file back to your desktop or take with you on your iPhone to show family and friends on the go.

This app is so flexible and once you learn everything, its easy to use. One downside...if you use any of the formatting while in the desktop...such as creating a checklist...then you can not Edit what you created.

Example: I create a list of Movies I want and use the Checkbox format (alt, left mouse click) to put check boxes next to each movie in Evernote Desktop. I then sync this to the online and iPhone accounts. Once on my iPhone, I can put a check mark in the box once I buy the movie but I can not add or delete any movies. It will allow you to add text underneath your list but no new boxes or deletions from your original until you get home. Its a minor convience but still works.

Hope that helps and gives you some ideas
Good Luck

iconic notes allows you to create folders to organize your notes. plus it has landscape mode. you may want to check it out.

i have both evernote and iconic notes on my iphone. personally i found evernote not as responsive as iconic notes, and i don't have a big need for syncing up notes on my MBA. so i primarily use iconic notes for my note taking needs.

I use iconic notes to for that reason. Also because I like the way it follows the ipod's GUI
