The iPhone 4 has an LED Flash, but that is not always the best for low-light situations. Does anyone know of any good apps that add like an artificial flash to a picture to add light without adding too much noise. I have tried a couple of apps from the app store and a lot of them seem to literally be complete carbon copies of each other.

The camera "flash" apps I've had the best success with are Perfectly Clear, Trusight Pro and AutoAdjust. Each of them do more than simply crank up the brightness of an image, and with it the noise.

One caveat.... Previous versions of Perfectly Clear were incredible. I ran nearly all of my photos through it before doing anything else. The latest, version 2.0 is really really unstable. If you have the old version, I'd hold off on upgrading. If you don't, I'd hold off on purchasing until they get the bugs worked out. It'll work *okay* on an iPhone 4, but crashes every time on older iPhones. And the older phones are the ones that need it the most.

Until Perfectly Clear is fixed, I've been using TruSight Pro. I think there's a free or inexpensive lite version you can try before you buy.

Thanks for the reply and I enjoy your blog.

I have had my eye on Perfectly Clear, but like you said...it currently has stability issues. I am going to hold off on getting it until those issues are worked out. I will check out TruSight Pro though.
