I have to run a windows on my MBP and in some situations will have to go online with it. Is there any good FREE antivirus software out there? It will be rather limited so I hate to pay for it but I will if I have to. It has been ages since I have had to look into antivirus software so I am a bit behind the times. Any recommendations?

avira antivir
is the best around as i see it AVG takes up too much resources. with antivir you wont have to worry about any memory getting used up

if you dont enjoy antivir theres always Avast Antivirus, which is pretty good to me. however if you dont mind the resources getting used up AVG is a great antivirus, one of the best in my opinion, just takes too much resources for some computers (like small ones)

Like thomahawk AVG or Avast are pretty good free antivirus progs, but as stated AVG can be a resource hog and then there's all the pop up crap to deal with. I use Avast and find it a Ok solution. You may also want to look into windows defender, spybot, and adware free stuff

The best anti-virus software I have seen for Winbloze is FORMAT C:

The only problem with that option is that it has some mostly unwanted side effects including loss of data, inability to locate boot device problems, loss of work time and even headaches.
