Any guess if Apple would have addressed the WiFi problem, or had the time to do so, w/the 3G iPad model, if there is a problem?

I read someplace, that it may be a quality control issue w/the proper positioning of the antenna inside.

.

I doubt its a QC issue or it would be more random. Regardless no way to know if the 3G behaves better until its released.

I'm hoping the black plastic (if it is plastic) section for the 3G antenna also houses the WiFi one (or they're shared?), hopefully that will improve the signal. I dont recall where the antenna was in the tear down photos.

I'd be willing to guess the problem is already fixed on newer wifi models (or im just lucky)
My iPad pick picks up 10 times more signals than my iPhone 3G does. Haven't dropped the connection once either.. Signal is always at full strength to.

Doubtful, it's a software, not hardware issue.

That's why it would be more likely to be fixed. It's gonna have an upgraded version of the OS for no other reason than it has the 3G hardware that must have software support from the OS. A small adjustment to the WIFI programming ( such as forcing DHCP renewal on waking from sleep) would be easy to do and allow then to test it via the 3G model then a full blown bug fix/ firmware upgrade could be released at a later date.
