Any Heavy SMS Texters Using iPhone?

I send a lot of texts each month, let me go into detail...A LOT of texts. I was wondering if any text heavy people have been using iPhone and how easy it is to manage texts and respond while doing other things such as watching a movie or listening to the iPod. Also, does there seem to be any delays in texts? I know sometimes with my Sprint phone I won't receive someone's response until I send another text - some kind of system backup I suppose.

Basically, what's the user experience for text hungry users?

P.S. - I know unlimited texting is an extra $20 a month (ridiculous compared to Sprint's $5).

Im not a heavy texter but just to clarify, Sprint's unlimited text plan is actually $5 more than the 1000 SMS plan, which makes its real cost $15
 
I am constantly texting, and I'm really liking the keyboard. I went ahead and picked up the unlimited text plan also.
 
I'm not sure what your definition of heavy is. I usually end up with about 600+ messages a month so I got the extra messages for $10.

I find myself typing faster with this keyboard than with my blackberry. I use two thumbs and the auto correction takes care of just about every single typo.
 
Hmmm maybe that's why it seemed so cheap. I'm on a family plan and the unlimited is only for my phone and comes up as $5 bucks extra because before we switched to unlimited I went 1000 or so over the limit (oops).

Edit: And I range from 500-2000 texts a month.

I never texted before the iphone. Now I use to it text my cow-orker's iphone (going to lunch in 5 minutes). I figure that's better than a call and an email.
 
i am constantly texting i am so glad i got unlimited
the keyboard and corrections are amazing
i love it more than any other phone ive had

Very good...going on sites with EDGE is no problem. I was in Target the other day, got bored, sat down, and was browsing Macrumors for a little. It was very nice, listened to music, browsed Macrumors...hardly even noticed the slow down.
 
the text 'conversation' format has made all the difference in the world. It feels more like instant messaging to me. The best part is that when you get a text, you'll feel the phone vibrate and the text will display in a small window in the center of the screen, you can then choose to ignore or go directly to the SMS application.

If you were handed an iphone with the SMS application open, you would think you were using iChat.
 
So is it tabbed if you're receiving texts from more than one person at a time or do you get a separate pop up for each different number and when you accept it it brings up a window with that private chat? I'm sorry for so many questions but a lot of reviews don't really go into the the texting and that is one of the most important uses of my phone.

Close enough it does the same thing when you recive two txts, and yes it does bring up the window for the chat with that one person that you clicked on errrr pointed on.

With these kind of phones its very easy to run up the bill texting people. When I had a T-Mobile Sidekick 2, my average texting was 800 to 900 message per month. For that phone you paid an extra 20.00 for unlimited data and that INCLUDED unlimited SMS messages.
 
I'm 16,so I send a crazy amount of texts a day. I obviously hace unlimited texting, I have a blackberry right now. When I switched from verizon and looked at my bill to see how many I had used the past month, it was 2,000 and that phone had a shotty keypad, so I can do it much faster on my BB. I am holding off on iPhone because to me the keyboard is not good enough for people who are texting as fast as I(and you probably) am.
 
I use t9, but I'm sure with some practice the iPhone will be as fast, if not faster. I can't get the stupid thing off my mind so I might as well save up and buy one :D $:apple:
 
I send a ton also.

If you just trust the software, you'll be typing quickly in no time at all.

I was amazed how fast I was able to type right away. Now, after having the phone for 4 days, I fly.

I was expecting to hate it, and boy was I wrong. I wouldn't want the dedicated keyboard now--what a waste of space.
