Actually i recieved my ipad 3g 64 gb model recently..I am from India and asked a relative of my friend staying in San Jose to order one for me...
Now the thing is I paid like $930 inclusive of taxes for my ipad...
But now they are claiming that it cost them $150 extra..They claim that $70 extra was spent on shipping when i actually had asked for free shipping and when i calculated the days between the time they ordered it online and recieved shipment it was as the standard free time frame would be....
And the other $80 they claim as "Other Charges"...

Can anybody plz let me know whether there is any such thing cz i did not find any such charge at Apple's website....I looked around a lot...
I dont want my $150 to be wasted for no reason...
Thank you for reading.

Apple doesn't have any extra charges, so your friends relative might just be looking for $80
However the shipping charge could be correct

Thnx for replying harry...can anybody look that up for me-the shipping charges part...
Thnx

Ask them to email you the invoice from apple. They can pull it up from their apple id.

Do ask how much it cost to ship to you, and if they charged it, they might have gotten hit with interest on their cc. But the actual apple charges should be easy to verify.

If it's an import you may be hit with duty charges - and they also charge you the admin costs of applying the charge... I imported some t-shirts from the US to find I'd been charged £1 duty plus £10 admin charge. :/

The only other possible expenses are travelling to a depot to pick up the order if you can't be in to collect it. My iPad cost me a train fare on top of free delivery due to this. (I could have been patient, of course, but hey - it's the iPad...)

The cost to buy the 64gb+3G iPad in Santa Clara County (where San Jose is), should be $76.77, added to the $829.99. So the total should be $906.76.
And, as most people said, the shipping should be free.

does everybody forget about the shipping from USA to Indea? Might be expensive.. but not 150 $ tho.

That's the shipping cost I'm talking about, apples shipping is free but they only let you ship within the country of purchase

Thank u so much for replying everybody..
I did not import it..my frnd got it along with him..the ipad was to be shipped to san jose only and the liability of those people were limited till there...
Even i found out that shipping to anywhere in the US must be free...

And ya its a great idea to ask them to send the invoice over...If it can be found in their apple id then nothing better....
And thnx for confirming the san jose landed cost inc of taxes..i have already paid them that money...but they are outa sudden asking for more....

Thnx a lot again for helpin me out everybody....!
