Hello,

Can anyone tell me what the likely cause of this inky smudging effect is when I press on the top corner edge of the phone or on the screen. See video and photos below:

It is a refurbished iPhone SE (1st gen) which I just received but I would like to have as much information as possible before contacting the company so they don‘t just fob me off.

When pressing the screen it also makes a clicking sound and moves slightly under the light pressure.

Could it be a poor screen replacement, water damage, battery inflated, other damage?

Many Thanks

Was that iPhone refurbished by Apple? or ... some other company?
Either a poorly-done screen replacement, or just a bad LCD panel. The digitizer (which responds to your touch) seems to physically distort the layers of the LCD panel (which it should not do), causing that "cute" rainbow effect Either that part of the screen is not seated correctly, or is simply a bad screen.
If you bought an Apple-refurbished iPhone, direct from Apple, that comes with the same warranty as a new iPhone. If you bought from another reseller as "refurbished", then you would need to contact that seller for help (you should be able to get a warranty replacement)

Thanks for the reply & information. It is purchased from an online refurb shop, not through Apple. I will be contacting the company but I wanted to gather as much info as possible first.
