Hey guys, I'm using playerxtreme pro on my apple tv, iphone and ipad. Playerxtreme is a very useful app. I love it because I can connect to my mediaserver directly from the video player and I can play the content directly.

I would like to do this on my Macbook Air, but i can't find any app for mac like playerxtreme... Any ideas? Except VLC. Big thanks!

well you could use Transmit disk. You can mount a remote volume as a local disk and use the player of your choice.

FTP? A bit odd to use FTP for watching video files. Would probably be better to share your media files in a diffrent way like SMB or NFS, but thats just me. There is also Plex, but that requires a subscription to stream to iOS devices.

Have you cheked out MPlayer Extended? There is also a fulscreen "Media player" named Kodi designed for use on HTPC's, but I am not sure if that one supports remote play.
