I have an iMac and a Macbook Pro.
iMac:
27" late 2014
3.5 GHz quad core I5
32 Gb memory, 1600 MHz
AMD Radeon R9 M290X 2 GB
Running Big Sur

Macbook:
13" late 2012
2.5 GHz dual core I5
8 Gb memory 1600 MHz
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 Mb
Running Catalina

Running, for example, Photoshop and Blender, the iMac struggles, with the cursor unable to properly follow mouse movements, and very difficult to grab a resize handle in Blender. All in all, both apps are pretty well unuseable.
The Macbook, however, runs both perfectly. The mouse keeps up, and there's no problems whatsoever. But both are just fine in Lightroom.

So why is this? How come an older weaker macbook performs so much better than the new stronger iMac?

Grateful for your views please!
