Anyone here with access to iOS 9 able to tell me if Apple made any improvements to the Photos app?

In particular....
  1. Can we edit/create geolocation tags as was possible in iPhoto? I've scanned a bunch of old photos and there is no way to add the location data.
  2. Faces - can we combine various faces names into one? For instance... sometimes I'm identified as David, other times as Davidgr. I haven't been able to group those together.

The only difference that I've noticed (and that Apple mentioned in their WWDC Keynote) was the new slider at the bottom of your photos where you can 'scrub' or jump to another photo quickly. Here's a screenshot:

Other than that, I've not noticed any differences.

There is a photo scrubber at the bottom of a photo view that allows you to swipe quickly through your pictures, almost the same way that you can quickly scrub through a video and see preview screens.

Only other really small change I've noticed is that they've changed the Crop icon to include arrows to make it more obvious that this includes the ability to rotate.

Do you mean the Photos app on OS X? Because definitely neither of those features are available on iOS.

I'm guessing your talking about the desktop Photos app on Mac OS X? As far as i'm aware we've never been able to change geoloaction data on iOS. The same goes for faces. Probably best to post on the Mac OS X 10.11 forum if that's what you meant.

Even though it's slightly off topic here, on Photos on OS X you can't add geolocation data, no.

But if you select 2 faces and right click, it gives you the option to Combine faces, so not all bad news! :)

You sure about this? On Apple's own El Capitan page, it says the new Photos app can do that. It's disappointing that feature won't be available for iOS' Photos app.

How about hide pictures? It's stupid that they added the ability to hide pictures but the folder hidden pictures is not secured by a pin or Touch ID!

It's possible that they are going to add this functionality in a future beta. (The new sorting features don't seem to be available yet either.)
