I have a 2021 GMC Truck with CarPlay and it works very well with my iPhone 13mini on iOS 18. If I lose CarPlay functionality, it would be painful to me. Has anyone converted to iOS26 with a GM vehicle and did you experience any issues with CarPlay?

It should not be an issue. If your truck does CarPlay on iOS 18, it will work with iOS 26. CarPlay uses the vehicle infotainment screen/system as an extension of the phone's display, nothing more. If it works now, it will work then.

It would take a software update to the GM infotainment system to disable CarPlay on your truck.

Not exactly true. I've definitely had problems related to CarPlay on iOS 26 and not in iOS 18

I had to move to iOS 26 on my phone because I got a new watch. Listening to music (Apple Music) using CarPlay and the music was running together. Before one song would fully finish, the next song would start. Not a life changing problem, but certainly a bit irritating. I've been listening to music directly off my phone and I have yet to experience the same problem. I'll drive my other GM car tomorrow (wife's car) and see if the same thing happens. This is the irritating type of thing I was hoping to avoid. Oh well, gotta love updates - Not!

iOS 26 includes a Song Transition option for Apple Music (in Settings), AutoMix seems to be default and Crossfade is another. But you can turn it off. Seems likely the culprit here. I doubt CarPlay has anything to do with this behavior.

Thanks. I turned that off. Will test it out. It does look like that's the culprit. Sure hope so.

I have a 2017 GMC Canyon and mine just randomly disconnects

New issue for today. When I get a text, it no longer pops up a notification on the screen like it used to. I thought it might be a "Focus" issue because I saw a comment about "Driving Focus" but it doesn't appear that any of my focus' are on.

Ringtone play on iPhone and CarPlay together ... I am on Mazda CarPlay with the latest Entertainment update. 2 different phone, same problem.

I think it's an iOS issue since my upgrade to iOS 26. I don't get a notice on my phone in general when I get a text. Interesting is that my Watch notifies my of a new text, but my phone doesn't. When the screen is off (completely blank), nothing shows up when I get a text. I used to get a notification banner and a vibration (phone is on silent mode).

sounds like the crossfade is on in your music settings. I believe that's the setting that makes it like a dj where at the end of one and beginning of another track it tries to sync up the beat etc.

Yes, it was a new (to me) music setting. I shut that off and things seem to be working fine.

This isn't related to GM but CarPlay prior to 26 looked fine on my 8" screen in my Seat Leon (basically a VW Golf) however now with LiquidAss everything looks pixelated and blurred because the needless glass effect is too fine for the screen in my car. So if you don't have a brand new hi res screen you might see crappy rendering of text and icons etc. Mine isn't exactly a bad screen, it's top of the range from 2019, but LiquidAss effects are so subtle that they obviously fall 'between' pixels on my screen. Its only where the ass effects are that its pixelated and blurred so its yet another instance of the needless/useless effect causing legibility issues.

CarPlay 26 looks bad on the new VW group infotainment that is high res, too - the Arteon center screen is hi-res but looks like DiVx now
