i know it's pretty unlikely someone is going to forget a prototype Mac Pro at a bar... Does anyone have an idea of what's coming - if anything? Up till now it's the Apple / Mushroom treatment, feed us crap and keep us in the dark

If we would know anything (besides speculation), it would be on the front page of Apple Insider or on some of the news pages of MacRumors or on any Mac related news and rumours site.

They must have some pretty stringent punishment for folks at APPLE who squeak! Like hold their kids as collateral or something!

They are simply fired. My rep drops hints on things from time to time, but only on whether to buy or wait...On the iMac he says wait (doh) and on the MP he says nothing at all. Probably means nothing, but there are those here and on other boards speculating on the demise of the Pro range. I hope the are wrong.

Then there must be a huge line at the unemployment offices after all the iphone leaks lately.

Those are usually from suppliers and not directly from Apple employees. Pretty sure those suppliers have employees being fired though.... i.e. Foxconn.

Knowing Foxconn's employment practices, "fired" means "out of a cannon."

HA....er... would be funny if it weren't tragic.

Most of the leaks aren't coming from Apple Corporate employees, they are coming from 3rd party manufacturers. Much harder to control info.

With the Mac Pro line its hard to see why Apple would not benefit to hint (not incl. Cooks spiel) at whats coming down the pipe, usually a company makes a business plan for the years acquisitions of equipment, but then again this is Apple we are talking about :p
HP seems to be able to supply a path for equipment progression... Its not like we do not know what Xeon chip sets are available from Intel given Apple stays that course?
Hey I bet Apple had a budget when they decided to make their iCloud with HP Blade servers if thats what they used? Hey maybe we will go the way of HP in the future if it weren't for that pesky Microsoft OS.

Really? it's hard to see how they would NOT benefit? How about completely crushing any current sales of the current model?

"we are releasing the next Mac Pro in 6 months" - Tim Cook

Sales of Mac Pros for the next 6 months = 0

oh well, i guess i'll have to stop paying attention and hope for the best. This has gone from nervous anticipation, to bordem similar to watching paint dry on a wall

That seems like the state of things now. Low Sales

In part driven by this "Don't Buy" label slapped on the Mac Pro even though nothing is coming for at least 5 months and perhaps as long as 9-10 months. That is significant diconnect from the hueristic on the rest of the "don't buy" which is triggered on "last update". It is indicative of something is coming 'soon'. There is no relatively soon here.

Also by Apple invoking the "Osborne Effect" by announcing new model long before next one ships.

Or just because its no longer even in the ballpark of reasonableness of bang-for-your-buck. You're paying the bleeding edge tech premium + built by a big brand name premium.... but only one of those applies anymore. It's just not a smart buy right now.

Yeah just placeholders - I guess it wouldn't matter if they didn't release a mp 6,1 or iMac 13,1 - the USB bootcamp thing would still work
